Personal Floral Tribute

This week has been so busy, it felt like a throwback to the floristry days of the 1980s and 1990s. It’s undoubtedly been the busiest week I’ve experienced in nearly nineteen years of running Moonstones.

Unfortunately, the vast majority of orders—around ninety percent—were for funerals. Losing a loved one is difficult at any time of year, but it always feels particularly heartbreaking during the festive season. One of these funerals was for a loyal and truly lovely regular customer of mine. Despite having worked as a delivery driver for another florist for a time, he remained steadfastly supportive and always came to me for his flowers.

His family chose to keep the tributes simple yet elegant, opting for a full coffin spray made of red roses, blue delphiniums, and mixed foliage—beautiful in its own right. They also requested a small, deeply personal touch: as he had a fondness for blue lights, it felt only fitting to incorporate them into the spray. I loved how this thoughtful detail brought a little light to what was undoubtedly one of the darkest days for his loved ones.
