Disheartened
I recognise that this may come across as somewhat bitter, but that’s genuinely not my intention. To the untrained eye, the arrangements might appear beautiful; however, any florist who takes pride in their profession would be reluctant to send out tributes displaying such visible flaws. That said, I genuinely wish this individual well and hope their business aspirations come to fruition. I’ve always said, “Competition is a healthy thing,” and I fully support anyone striving to make a living, especially in today’s challenging economic climate.
Still, it was disheartening to feel betrayed by people I trusted. While I’m not one to hold grudges, I’ll certainly be more selective about extending favours in the future.
To make matters worse, shortly after, a family member of another florist - someone I’ve long considered a friend - attempted to poach one of my valued clients. Thankfully, that customer appreciates the importance of loyalty. I can’t help but feel bitterly disappointed though, particularly as I’ve gone out of my way to assist this other florist on many occasions.
Over the years, I’ve often been told I’m “too nice,” and while I’ve always believed in supporting and uplifting others, perhaps it’s time I reassess that approach. Maybe a little sharpening of boundaries is in order.
On a brighter note, take a look at these two beautiful flowers I had the pleasure of photographing - true examples of the quality I strive to deliver.
